So this weekend is Fall Break at W&M, which means no classes on Monday and Tuesday. Not much even compared to Thanksgiving Break, but hey, I'm not complaining! I decided to stay at school and relax, but my roommate went home with his family this morning. I woke up after they had left, and went out to run some errands.
When I got back, the door to my room was unlocked, which was quite odd. I'm usually good about locking the door whenever I go out. Whatever, it had probably just slipped my mind. I went inside, put my stuff down, and went to go take a shower. Of course, when I got back from the shower, wearing only a towel, the door was locked.
Great. Just a few hours after my roommate left, perfect. I went down the hall to my RA's room to ask her to let me into my room... but she's not there. Well, I guess I can ask another one of the RAs. Down to second floor, aaaaaand they're not there either. Getting a little worried, I go down to the first floor and try the Head Resident's room. No good. Now I'm starting to really wonder if I'm going to have to walk across campus to the Res Life office wearing only my bathtowel. Thankfully, the first floor RA is still here, the only one left in the building. Crisis averted!
I checked out my door later to see if I could figure out what was wrong. I think what happened is that after I locked it when I went out to run the errands, it didn't really shut all the way. The door closed all the way, but it didn't actually "click" into the frame, so when I came back, I could swing the door open, but the handle itself was still actually locked. Then when I went to shower, it actually did click all the way closed.
But just to be safe, I don't think I'm ever going anywhere without my keys again.

Of course I could see you doing this Nick. If you were a famous piano player you could just pay for someone to lock the door for you and make sure it's closed.
